Oh… and don’t forget to vote in yesterday’s beard poll.

Please vote in this beard poll

OK. My beard is around three and a half months (maybe a little more) so…

Is it time to shave? Go for the more standard beard? Or keep it going?

Here are examples:

Current beard:

Standard beard:

[almost] clean-shaven:

So what do you think?

A. Keep it current
B. Trim it to “standard”
C. Say “bye bye” to it

Let me know on Facebook (profile | page) or Twitter. (Or leave a comment… whatever you prefer.)

**[UPDATE]: It was Gloria Aitken who took the Bottletree photo. Thanks to Jeremy Aitken for reminding me.

I hope your holidays went well

I hope your holidays went well. Of course, there’s still one more to go, I suppose with New Year’s being just a few days away, but I hope they have been well so far.

Yesterday, I was in Haleyville, Ala. for awhile. There was a pretty good bit of snow, at least for Alabama. Of course, I think it snows up there every year since it’s so close to Tennessee, but this may have been the first “White Christmas” we’ve had. See the snow:

This morning, I got a phone call from Nina (of Easy Kiddo) with some bad news. If you know the band BPM, specifically their drummer Britt, he had a tragedy befall his family on Christmas night. His house burned down, and he, his fiancée, and their daughter need things – clothes, kitchen stuff, toys, blankets, pillows, etc. A Facebook event has been created listing more details about how to help.  Please click the link and see how you can get involved. Thanks.

Hail the Titans live video “One”

Here is some video of the first song from Tuesday’s show at the Alley Bar:

Also, be sure to check out this photo gallery by Ross Lyerly. The photos are from Tuesday’s show. He is the director of the music video we filmed scenes for this past Sunday. Here is one from the gallery:

The show last night was incredible. Hellakopta of Love was awesome and everyone there really showed the love to Hail the Titans. We are so grateful for the amount of support that you all are giving us, and we very much appreciate it.

Thanks to our friend Allison Weverink, we’ll have some video to post soon.

Thanks to all of you who came out on a Tuesday night to support us!

Also, I had dinner at SaZa. This was my second time there, and this time, I had the Pizza Palliard. This is the description: “flattened garlic pesto chicken breast, green onion, fresh mozzarella.” It’s really, really good. Highly recommended.

Oh, and the Alley Bar last night had both Sweetwater Blue and 420 on tap. In bottles, they had both the Harpoon UFO hefeweizen and the white. Also, really good and highly recommended.

“It’s the evidence of humans as ornaments”

Can you tell from the post title what song is stuck in my head?

Yep, “Meccamputechture” by The Mars Volta. And since it has the word “ornament” in there, it fits this time of year, right?

Anyway… yesterday, I met up with some people to shoot some scenes for a music video for the song “Ocean” off “The Final Scene,” and I want to thank some people for their help in making it happen.

Thanks to Ross Lyerly, who is directing, editing, working the camera, etc. I pretty much told him to look at it as this is his idea, his film, and my song is just the score. In other words, free reign on it. He was able to capture some very cool angles/shots.

He was assisted by James. (James, if you’re reading this, I apologize, but I don’t remember getting your last name.) He helped set up the lighting and scenes and pretty much anything that needed to happen behind the scenes. Thank you.

Landon Robinson was nice enough to let us use his house as the filming location. He has a very cool house. The architecture, both inside and out, is very interesting. It’s nice, and made for a great filming location. Thank you.

Since the song is “Ocean,” Ross wanted to have some artwork that was nautical-related, so thanks to Gloria and Jeremy Aitken (of Easy Kiddo) for providing those items. Gloria actually did a fantastic large chalk drawing of a ship at sea, and her mother had made an extremely nice wood-burning of a ship. They also had another ship that looked metallic and another wood-burning image that had some background color. Very cool stuff.

I’m not sure what’s up with my camera phone. I know it’s not great, but lines keep appearing in photos. I took a picture of the camera Ross was using ( and there is a line in it. If you’re wondering, he has a Canon D7 and a couple of really nice lenses for it. It is a very nice piece of equipment.

On Saturday, I broke down and ordered a mini-theremin. It uses a photo cell to make noise, so it works off light (including things like laser pointers). I was on the phone with Adam Davila (of Hail the Titans) and he told me to go to That guy makes some cool stuff. So that should be here soon, and I’ll be able to make more noise.

I went to Applebee’s yesterday. Normally, I’m not a fan of big chain restaurants. I mean, I guess they are OK, but if you want real food, you usually have to find the local, hole-in-the-wall establishment. But I have to give credit where it’s due. On the Applebee’s menu, they have a roast beef sandwich that is really, really good. Really. It’s like pot roast (as opposed to deli-thin-cut style) sitting on some jalapeño coleslaw and topped with fried onion straws with a little barbecue sauce. Good stuff.

Reminder: Hail the Titans is playing with Hellakopta of Love tomorrow night at the Alley Bar in downtown Montgomery. Happy Hour drink specials (I’ve been told $1 beer and $2 wells) until 7 p.m. so get there early. The music will start at 7 p.m. It’s an early show, so be there early because you probably have to work on Wednesday, too.

Is Wayne Brady gon’ have to choke a bitch?

The title of this post has nothing to do with anything else. I just like [and miss] Chappelle’s Show. It was hilarious.

Last night, I tried some Jack Daniel’s Single Barrell for the first time. It was really good, as it should be considering the price. I also had a Rogue Mocha Porter, which I highly recommend.

Also, I visited an art gallery in The Alley in downtown Montgomery. Free wine, cheese, etc. and some great art pieces and live music by The Moonshine Cherries. I’m pretty sure that’s who played. Did I mention the free wine?

There is a guy who calls himself “The Shoe Doctor” who shined my shoes in the alley. He also preaches while he shines shoes. And his preaching style is that preaching-while-kinda-singing style, and when he wanted to accentuate a word or phrase, he would pop the polishing cloth on the shoes. He says “The Good Doctor” is speaking through “The Shoe Doctor.”

While I don’t share the religious beliefs of “The Shoe Doctor,” I will say he does a good job. My shoes are shiny and look brand new again. So stop by and visit if you’re near The Alley.

And speaking of The Alley, Hail the Titans are playing at The Alley Bar next Tuesday (Dec. 21) with our friends Hellakopta of Love. Here is the Facebook event listing. It’s free, and starts relatively early for one of our shows (7 p.m.), so you should come out and hear some music. Get there before 7 for some good drink specials.

[UPDATE] The following is a grammatically valid sentence:

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

Check it out here.

The rest of the Hail the Titans set at Bottletree + pics

Last night, I posted video of the first song Hail the Titans played at Bottletree last Saturday. Here is the rest of the video (two more songs).

This is song “Three” followed directly by song “Four.”

I hope you enjoy it. Also, please be sure to click the “Like” button on our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter and tell your friends about us. Thanks!

On Sunday, we had that photo shoot with Pint Bottle Photography. Those photos are now posted online.

This one is for The Boss and The Rabbi:

And here are some Hail the Titans photos:

That is our “outlaws pre-heist” shot.

This is the “Mexican standoff” a la ‘Reservoir Dogs.’

And a “heist preparedness” shot.
