For your ears

The new Manchester Orchestra album comes out tomorrow. It’s called “Simple Math.” You can stream it in full by clicking here. It’s good. It seems they are now on a major label (Columbia), but if you haven’t heard their indie releases “Mean Everything to Nothing” and “I’m Like a Virgin Losing a Child,” you should do yourself a favor and go listen.

Also, my friend and very talented musician/graphic artist Winfred Hawkins has some music you should listen to. Click here. He is also in the band Hellakopta of Love, which you should also check out.

Here is some info on shows coming up this week:

Friday the 13th: Hail the Titans and Rowe at Head on the Door in Montgomery, Ala.

Saturday the 14th: Sun Hotel and Hail the Titans at The Blind Mule in Mobile, Ala.

Sunday the 15th: Tornado relief show at The Blue Iguana in Prattville, Ala. A $5 donation is suggested, but feel free to donate more if you can. The funds go to the Red Cross. Bands performing include Hail the Titans, Pseuod Nein, .50 Cal Syndicate, Fear the Jackalope and Sunday School Riot. Also, it’s all ages. The show starts at 3 p.m., so you don’t have to worry about being out all night on a Sunday and all tired and/or hungover at work the next day.
