There seems to be quite a few events occurring this week, so if you’re venturing out (and I hope that you are), here are some things that should be worth checking out.
In Montgomery that night, Saint Christopher and T. Junior (of the Honky Tonk Hustlas) will be at Head on the Door. 10 p.m.
For Saturday, there are quite a few things:
Hail the Titans is returning to The Squeaky Lizard in Ocean Springs, Miss. that night, performing with Dark Horizon, Mammox and Love Story’s End.
For Montgomery, you’ve got at least three things going on that day.
At 4 p.m. is the RRRoll Out for Autism event at Looney’s Super Skate. The event will include members from the River Region Rollergirls’ Deadutantes, as well as the Tragic City Rollers (Birmingham, Ala.), Okaloosa Rollers (Florida) and Mississippi’s Magnolia Roller Vixens. Click here for a Montgomery Advertiser article, “Mom on a mission” featuring “Fiend Club” a.k.a. Lyra Stephens and her son, Sewell.
At 6 p.m. the third annual Montgomery Film Festival begins at the Capri Theatre. I was able to attend last year’s event, and it was great. There were many interesting, independent films shown, and I can only imagine that this year’s event will be even better.
That night, starting at 10 p.m. the “death punk” band Coffin Breath from Jackson, Miss. will join Montgomery’s own Flip the Switch (who have worked to become senior members of the Anti-Hail the Titans Club) for a show at Head on the Door.
