Things have been a bit, well, busy. But that can be a good thing.
Friday, Hail the Titans and Hellakopta of Love played at the Tipping Point. We played outside, and while the weather felt great, the dew point got everything a bit damp. The food and beer selection were great. After the show, I stopped by Head on the Door for awhile. I missed Creep List, but caught most of Bearhead‘s set. (Side note that only a small number of people will understand: “Airplane food. Am I right?”)
Saturday, we headed up to Green Bar in Tuscaloosa to play with Skeptic? from Birmingham. My amp, which was working fine Friday night, was not happy (and will be in the shop this week.) Three fuses… blown. Luckily, the guys from Skeptic? are very nice and their guitarist, James, let me borrow his amp for the show. (Thank you!)
Yesterday, a lot of our friends helped us out by being part of the filming of a music video. Thank you all so much! Filming tends to be one of those things that is fun and hectic at the same time, and I’m excited to see all the footage. Adam Davila and I shared directing duties, and I got the opportunity to work with Raquel Walker and Nolan Dewey again. Adam and I have worked with Raquel on a couple of films – “Visulant” and “Chaser.” Nolan shot a video for the song “No One” from my first solo album, and both Raquel and Nolan are helping film Gut Munchers.
I think all in all, there is probably just under four hours of raw footage. And that will have to be condensed down into about five minutes for the song “I Am Become Death.”
There is a lot going on this week:
Thursday, I’m playing an acoustic show at the Tipping Point with The Changing Me. Details. There is also an “Artists on Tap” event going on at AlleyBAR that night. Details. And in Birmingham that night, Skeptic?, Justify These Scars and Cahada are opening for HELMET. Details.
