The what and the what?

Due to some personal/family issues, updates to this blog and other social media may be somewhat scarce in the coming weeks, but I wanted to take a few minutes to throw a couple of updates out there.

Last year, I got the opportunity to help with a project that has recently been added to the L.A. Film Festival. Sylvester Folks wrote and directed some episodes for a web series he named “The Ghost and the Negro,” and he tapped me for an acting role and for some music used in end credits. (I joked with him that if I were to do any promotion for the series, I would need his director’s head shot because let’s face it: I’m a white guy from Alabama and the word ‘negro’ is in the title… so his picture is below.)

It was a very fun project, and I was able to meet some great people whom I still enjoy working with to this day.

In fact, speaking of Sylvester, he tapped me to help with another project he’s working on titled “Mercy and Plea.” We shot some scenes for that this past weekend. My main job on this one was production sound and boom operator, but I did get to do a little acting as well.

Also, if you’ve been following the Spiritus Facebook page, you’ve seen that we’ve started making cast announcements. That project is going into production this month.

And as a reminder, I’m playing an acoustic show this coming Saturday at Head on the Door in Montgomery with Andrew Vinson and the Buckrabbits. Details here.
