Today is the day! The Brineaboy “Unalienable” music video officially debuted this morning on the Impose Magazine website! Click here to see it.
The magazine wrote a little bit about the video as well, and I really like this quote:
…the video is a timely representation of the need for empathy.
I’ve got so much running through my head right now, so I’m trying to focus it all into this blog post. Please bear with me.
First of all, the entire cast and crew of this production were truly incredible. Alex and Amy (who make up Brineaboy) are wonderful, talented people, and I’m proud to call them friends. I am thankful and honored that they trusted me to direct this project and make this vision a reality.
They are also dedicated. Film productions take time, and when that time includes hours – literally hours – of being tied up and blindfolded so the director can get the needed shots, it’s not easy. Also, many thanks to Evelyn Blythe, who dragged Amy down that hallway over and over and over again.
I must also give special thanks to assistant director and producer Kristy West. Without her help, there is no way this production would have gone as smoothly as it did. Whatever was needed – from pre-production details to lighting to props to helping me keep up with the shot list and a host of other things – she handled it. I can’t sing her praises enough for all that she put into this production.
Thanks to Amber Dickinson for stepping in to handle makeup, almost last minute. Without much notice, she joined the team and nailed the bruising looks we were going for, and then duplicated it for the second day of the shoot.
I’m sure there’s so much I’m leaving out in attempts to coalesce all these thoughts into one post, so apologies for anything or anyone I’ve skipped. Many, many thanks to the entire cast and crew (and the artists who allowed their works to be on display for the video.) Their time and dedication – and chanting, haha – made this project come together nicely. (The complete list of people who made this happen are in the video description on YouTube; just click ‘show more’ to see the list.)
When the video discussions first started with Amy, Alex, and myself throwing out ideas, I knew it would be fun, but I had no idea that the finished product would debut on a magazine website with thousands of followers/readers. Thanks to Amy and Alex for believing in me.
And thank you for taking time to read this. Much love.
