Towering Above updates!

Towering Above is performing this coming Friday (June 17) with Abusements and The Cancellations (from Nashville.) All ages at the Sanctuary in Montgomery, AL. Details here.

In other news, we’ve been working on album art, finishing up music videos, and getting everything ready to release a new album. We’ll provide more details on all of that soon. And we’re already working on even newer stuff (yay!)

Ooh, speaking of those music videos, here’s a screen grab from one of them that the band posted recently:

OK, that’s all I got for now. Thanks for reading. Come to the show this Friday!

Towering Above – Live!

Back in July, Towering Above performed live at the Sanctuary in Montgomery, AL, for a livestream concert with our friends in the Abusements. Sound was provided by Technical Earth Recorders, and our friend Jeff McKinney shot some footage for us as well.

I took Jeff’s footage and the livestream footage (props to Chris Eckels from Abusements for the livestream footage) and added some stuff to create some live videos. I hope you enjoy!

If you want to hear more, be sure to check out our Bandcamp page. Our debut album “<content>obsolete” (under the band name Barrens) and our new acoustic EP “Repeating the Moment” are also on most streaming platforms – Spotify, YouTube, etc. so you can enjoy them there as well.

Thanks for listening!

So yeah, I hope to see you at Goat Haus on March 6. And like my other albums, this will be available from all digital retailers on that date (Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Bandcamp, etc.) so you can hear it in full prior to the release show that evening.

In other news…

BARRENS is performing as part of the Punk Rock Art Show vol. 11 on Saturday, Feb. 29. That event is at Brennan’s Irish Pub in Birmingham, AL’s five points area downtown. Details and full lineup here.

We’ve also been working on some new songs, so we’ll begin testing out some new jams soon.

And Foolish Henry Films is working on a new project. That’s all I’m going to really say on that front at the moment, except to say that it brings back a couple of Death to the World alumni for the project.

Let’s see… what else…

The new play at the Cloverdale PlayhouseThe Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time – opens this Thursday.

And our buds in Abusements, Skeptic?, and the McRyatts are playing at Black Market Bar and Grill in Birmingham this Saturday, Feb. 15 at 9pm.

There’s probably more stuff, but that’s all I can think of right now. So… make plans. Get out of the house and do stuff.

Much love.

RSVP, Munchie, and more!

IMG_20190911_235016

Many thanks to RSVP Magazine for including me on “The List” for their Sept/Oct issue!

Read the article here.

You’ll also see my friend Charles Williams of Lush Photography on there. He did the producer headshots for the Remembering Anarcha team (myself, C. DeWayne Cunningham, and Royce Williams.)

In other news, I spent this past weekend in Alex City, AL helping on a film project. It’s a short horror film called The Munchie II, written and directed by Cedric Hatcher. I was a gaffer on this project, mainly, but I also helped as 2nd AC and boom op when needed, and they even let me be camera op on one scene. Great cast and crew. Fun times.

Aaaaaand… tomorrow (Friday the 13th!) BARRENS is playing with Abusements and the Chodes (from Panama City, FL) at Bomber’s Pub. Details here.

Jumper… and lots more!

Last weekend, a music video was filmed for the song “Jumper” by Barrens. As with any film project, it was a group effort, and I want to take a moment to thank the folks who helped us out:

Thanks to my fellow band members – J. Slickwood and Clay Smith – for supporting my vision as director. Many thanks to my friends Jeff McKinney and C. DeWayne Cunningham for coming through as assistant director and assistant camera.

Special thanks to the stars of the video – Greg Loggins and V. Serrano. Y’all did a wonderful job.

Thanks to Johnny and Beth Veres and James Weddle for providing locations for the shoot. Y’all be sure to check out Johnny and Beth’s band Electric Blue Yonder and go get some food and beer at Goat Haus Biergarten. (Ooh, their weekend brunch, y’all… so good.)

Thanks to Yvette Hochberg and Glenn Grant for helping us out with props for the shoot. Thanks to Sharon Sanders for coming through for us at the last minute, to Rod Williams for helping us get in the last location, and to Lou Wood for helping out on set.

On behalf of Barrens and Terrible Master Films, thank you all!

Now, since I mentioned Electric Blue Yonder, that happens to be one of the bands – along with our buds in V-8 Death Car – that will be performing with us at our album release show on Friday, Aug. 16. That’s coming up at Commerce Beerworks. Click here to see the Facebook event.

In film news, the Foolish Henry Films short Bad Deal, by writer/director Shane Gillis, is premiering at Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham this month. It’s in the “Alabama Narratives” short film block on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 4:55 p.m. See the full schedule here.

The writer/director of The Song You’ll Never Hear – Stephen Poff – has started an IndieGoGo campaign to raise film festival submission funds. (Any indie filmmaker will tell you – those get expensive.) You can see the campaign and take a look at the perks here.

And Secret Weapon from writer/director Christopher S. Hubbard will be part of the Lanett City Film Festival and the Central Florida Film Festival this year, so congrats to him and the entire cast and crew on that!

And… check out some new music and video performances from my friends in the Abusements and The Last Thing You Remember, courtesy of the Montgomery Advertiser. Links to those below:

On June 1, the producers of the feature horror film Spiritus launched an IndieGoGo campaign to take pre-orders for the DVD. (Full disclosure: As a member of Foolish Henry Films, I am one of said producers. I also served as 1st AD on the project and played the role of “Greg Hines” in the film.)

The film is written and directed by L.C. Holt, who is known for acting in horror films such as You’re Next and V/H/S 2. By pre-ordering your copy of Spiritus through IndieGoGo, you’ll receive extra perks that are only available through the campaign. See the video below for more:

Click here to place your order! The campaign only runs during the month of June.

In other news, Barrens is hitting the road this Saturday, joining Skeptic?, Abusements, and The Goddamn Rights in Birmingham, AL. We’ll be at Brennan’s Irish Pub. Show starts at 9pm. Details here. Or hear the details straight from Mr. Wolfman:
